With the release of ICC-ES
Evaluation Report ESR-1025, STYRO-STOP Direct expanded
polystyrene (EPS) insulation can be applied directly
over steel roof decks, without a thermal barrier. This
makes STYRO-STOP Direct the most cost-effective steel
deck roofing insulation on the market. Enjoy the benefits
of exceptional design flexibility, permanent high R-Values,
superior dimensional stability, and resistance to moisture
absorption and physical degradation at a substantial
cost savings over other insulation products.
STYRO-STOP Direct is compatible with all
major roofing materials and assemblies. It is available
in flat, tapered and compound tapered panels in densities
ranging from 1.00 to 2.00 pcf, and is manufactured under
strict quality controls. Having completed thorough evaluation
for fire safety performance by ICC Evaluation Services,
STYRO-STOP Direct provides building owners, architectural
specifiers and contractors the confidence that comes
from its recognition by the nation's most respected
code authority.

STYRO-STOP Direct has undergone thorough
evaluation by ICC-ES for fire-safety performance and
can be installed directly over metal roof decks in ballasted,
mechanically fastened and fully-adhered roof assemblies.
ICC-ES has accepted STYRO-STOP Direct
for use directly over steel roof decks as a component
of a Class A, B or C roof covering. Details of the ICC-ES
acceptance are as follows:
- Assemblies: Ballasted, mechanically
fastened, or fully-adhered
- Maximum Insulation Thickness: 9 inches
at 1.00 PCF; 7.2" at 1.25 PCF; 6" at 1.50
PCF; 4.5" at 2.00 PCF
- Steel Deck: Minimum 22 gauge, 1 1/2
inch deep, non-perforated with flutes spaced a maximum
of 6 inches O.C.
- Cover Board: 1/4 inch thick Dens-Deck,
manufactured by Georgia-Pacific (fully-adhered and
mechanically fastened)
- Accepted Membranes: Any ICC-ES approved
EPDM or thermoplastic single-ply
- Fire Extinguishing System: Building
must be equipped with a wet-pipe sprinkler system
- Informational placards must be placed
at roof entry points to notify roofing contractor
that re-roofing limits exist

Evaluation Report ESR-1025
- The lowest cost per R-Value of any
rigid insulation board provides high insulating values
that will not diminish over time.
- Superior dimensional stability helps
assure that your roof insulation system remains tight
and energy-efficient, and your membrane fully supported.
- Resistant to the effects of moisture,
yet it breathes, is not a vapor barrier and needs
no venting.
- Compressive strengths ranging from
10 - 25 psi that can accommodate specific roof traffic
and loads without deforming.
- Sizes that offer more slope and dimension
options than other insulations.
- Independent test reports document superior
in-situ performance in a wide variety of roof applications.
